Heather Capps, MPAS, PA-C is a board-certified Physician Assistant with a master’s in physician assistant studies. Heather attended Southern Methodist University for her undergraduate studies where she received a bachelor’s degree in English along with a certification in Secondary Education. She went on to teach English and was the head women’s soccer coach at Horn High School in Mesquite. Heather enjoyed mentoring young adults but realized she wanted to pursue a career in medicine as a Physician Assistant. She went back to school to earn her pre-requisites and trained at University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNTHSC) in Fort Worth. Heather was the vice president of her class and was inducted into the Pi Alpha National Honor Society. She received the Outstanding Achievement in Pediatrics Award for her class and was on the UNTHSC Dean’s List. Heather also was a UNTHSC PA Studies Program Ambassador. She did her research in airway and authored Invasive Interventions for the Resolution of Sleep-Disordered Breathing in Children and their Effects on Behavior and Quality of Life.
Heather enjoys working with people of all ages and making them feel comfortable in a medical setting. With her background in education, she places an emphasis on educating her patients, so they understand their treatment and also are aware of appropriate preventative measures. Heather treats a wide array of dermatology needs, including autoimmune diseases relating to the skin, acne, atopic dermatitis, skin cancers, precancers, skin cancer screenings, and aesthetics.
Heather is a member of the Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants and is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support. She frequently collaborates with colleagues in dermatology as well as other specialties to coordinate the best care for her patients.
When she is not caring for her patients, Heather enjoys spending time with her husband, Chad, and their 2 young kids. They are both very involved with their kids’ sports and activities. Heather is currently coaching her daughter’s soccer team. Heather is very active and likes to go snow skiing and hiking with her family whenever possible.
